Lesson Idea:
- Read and/or watch Dr. Seuss's The Sneeches.
- Lead the students in a discussion about what we can learn from The Sneeches. ****
- Give each student a star and have them write a quality or talent they have that they are proud of.
- Share what the students wrote and discuss the similarities and difference. Discuss how these differences bring strength to the class and the community.
- Optional: Display the stars together in the classroom to remind students of their collective qualities/talents.

We Are Different, We Are the Same (Read Aloud - 5:57) This book shows and describes things about us that are different, and then shows how they are similar for everyone. (Noses, hair, mouths, skin, eyes, bodies, feelings, us.)
We Are All Different - And That's Awesome! (Tedx Talk - 4:39) In this Tedx Talk, Cole talks about his own uniqueness, his admiration for his autistic friend who lives his life without trying to change for others, and challenges us to be exactly who we are.
Everyone is Different by Lanny Sherwin (Song with picture show - 2:38) Song that focuses on how natural it is that we are all different and how that makes life interesting.
Respecting Differences (Video lesson - 3:33) This lesson is designed to help children to respect differences and reach out to others in friendship and kindness. The beginning of the video focuses on differences, the last part challenges us to help each other because we all matter.
Can I Play Too? (Read Aloud: 3:29) Two friends work to find a way to include another who is a little bit different.
It's Okay to Be Different (Read Aloud by Author - 2:51) No matter what is unique about us, it is OK.
